Short answers about what the service does, what it stores, and what it deliberately does not do.
Do I need an account to shorten a link?
No. There is no sign-up, no e-mail address, and no login. Paste a URL, press Shorten, and the short link is yours immediately.
How long do short links last?
You choose at creation: one, three, six or twelve months, with three months as the default. When the period ends the link stops working and the row is physically deleted by an automatic task — not hidden, deleted.
Links do not last forever, and that is on purpose. A shortener that keeps every link ever made accumulates dead addresses and abandoned redirects indefinitely.
Can I see how many people clicked my link?
No, and this is deliberate. Qtyni does not log clicks, so there is nothing to report — no counts, no countries, no devices, no referrers. Following a short link leaves no per-visit record on our side.
If click statistics are what you need, another service will serve you better. What you gain here is that nobody, including us, can reconstruct who opened your link.
What does a Qtyni link look like?
Seven characters after the domain, always: two letters identifying where the link is stored, then five more. Codes are not sequential and cannot be guessed from a neighbouring link.
Can I protect a link with a password?
Yes. Press the padlock on the form and choose a four-digit code; anyone opening the link must enter it before the destination is shown. The code is stored only as a cryptographic hash and cannot be recovered — if you lose it, the link cannot be opened again.
Four digits keeps casual visitors out. It is not encryption, and it does not hide the destination from us: we can still see it in order to moderate abuse.
Why is there a page before the destination?
Following a short link shows a brief page with the destination written out, then a button to continue. It exists so you can see where a link goes before you go there, and so that a link reported as abusive can be stopped immediately — an ordinary redirect can be cached by browsers and outlive its own removal.
The page carries one advertisement, which is what keeps the service free.
How many links can I create?
Ten per hour from one address. The limit exists to keep automated abuse from filling the service, and it counts rejected attempts as well, which is why probing for blocked destinations is expensive.
What do you store about me?
The destination URL, when it was created, and when it expires. Your IP address is held in a short-lived counter for at most one hour so the rate limit works, and it is not linked to the URL you shortened.
No accounts, no names, no e-mail addresses, no click logs, no profiles.
A Qtyni link points somewhere harmful. What do I do?
Write to the address in our terms with the short code, and it will be removed. Removal is immediate for everyone: the redirect page is not cached, so there is no window where an already-visited link keeps working.
Can I get a QR code for my link?
Yes. The QR code button on the result opens free-qr-pro.com, a separate site we operate, with your short link already filled in.
Is Qtyni free?
Yes, with no paid tier at present. Advertising on the redirect page covers the running costs.
